And Now a Simple Gesture

My pal Ellen Emerson White, one of the greatest writers I know, has started writing for Huffington Post. Please go read her eloquent take on where we are and where it'd be nice for us to stand.

I'll be lying here with that cool cloth on my head.

Something funny tomorrow. For reals.

  1. I had something longer going, but the thing is, the Democratic Party is only broken if we choose it to be. If we can't put this behind us, and if we require the candidates to make BS gestures to each other to bring this thing together, we're in real trouble.

  2. Well, frankly, I'm for the imaginary third party that exists in my head. I'm tired of both of them. That said, why is this a BS gesture? Part of me doesn't disagree, but... the level of misogyny I saw throughout the campaign really bothered me. Not that this would fix it...

Then in the midst of all this along came Emily Gould and, to a lesser extent, SATC and I was reminded that so often we do this ourselves.

    I'm rambling. Sorry.

  3. Also, this whole campaign season has been one BS gesture after another. Isn't that what politics is?
