The LP Questionnaire - Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket

Patrick Hallahan is known for two things, I think. His huge heart and his monster drumming talent. (Seriously, I'm not aware of a better drummer unless you're going back to the 70s/80s or something. Perhaps there's a contender in metal, but I don't listen to that stuff anymore now that I know it's Devil Music.) Speaking of the Devil, Patrick loves Devil Bear and DB always enjoyed protecting him while he slumbered.

Hallahan is the proud papa of two new kittens, Lola and Nemo.

Here's what he had to say about mix tapes, evil villains and superpowers:

Name: Patrick Hallahan
Pro Wrestling Name: LEX ANIMAL (I'm not kidding)

1. Pretend it's 1991. Name three songs you'd put on a mix tape for your girlfriend:
Nothing says "I'm 13, I'm awkward, and I love you" like these songs:

"This Is How We Do It" --Montell Jordan
"Freaks of the Industry" --Digital Underground
"It Takes Two" --Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock

2. Which evil villain would make the best president? Probably Wario. His campaign slogan, "I'ma Gonna Ween," is both pertinent and powerful.

3. What was your favorite cartoon as a child? My favorite cartoon was Looney Toons. So educational, so multi-faceted, so creative, and last but not least, so ingeniously hilarious.

4. What superpower do you wish you had? Omni-presence! Being in one place all of the time is way over-rated.

5. What would the title of your autobiography be? Here And Now, I Promise To Love Faithfully: You're All I Need

On deck for The LP Questionnaire: My Morning Jacket members Carl Broemel, Bo Koster and Jim James, and Flatiron Management's Mike Martinovich and Jamie Sampson.

  1. Hallahan is also known for having questionable taste in ice cream. Seriously, man, Dairy Kastle?! Pshaw!

  2. What is Dairy Kastle? Is that the place in Indiana that he loves?

  3. We're both Germantown residents and citizens of the '217 take their ice cream seriously. Unfortunately, Hallahan maintains the minority opinion on these two fine establishments:

Even though Mister P is a total Kastle Klown, I will still go to Indiana with him to try that other place. That's how devoted I am to good ice cream.

  4. Is the place in Indiana called Mom and Pop's? That's where the Nords go to get their ice cream on.

  5. That sounds like the place... But I could be wrong.

  6. Oops, I was wrong. It's Zesto's.

  7. Also, Erin, if you are devoted to good ice cream I wish you could go to Austin and experience the greatness that is Amy's.

  8. Zesto's is okay, though Mom and Pop's is more old-timey.

  9. Zesto's is merely okay, huh? I think Mr. Hallahan might disagree with that!

  10. I couldn't agree more about Patrick's big heart and great drumming. He is one of the nicest guys around. I used live next door to the Dairy Kastle on Eastern Pkwy @ Bradley, and enjoyed it very much. Great Brown Derbies and wonderful shakes!
