2008 Doesn't Seem That Different From 2007

I feel gluttonous. Between the Law & Order: SVU and America's Next Top Model marathons, I suspect my brain is evaporating.

SVU is pretty compelling, but Christopher Meloni looks like he uses that spray on hair stuff and his SUPER INTENSE ALL THE TIME Detective Elliot Stabler gets on my nerves every now and then (I did love him in Harold & Kumar, though). It's like he and Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson trade off on the PMS from episode to episode.

Believe it or not I'm watching the season preview for Rock of Love 2. I cannot believe this freaking show is back on so soon. Why, God, why??!!! I don't know if I can do it. I mean, I feel physically creeped out at the thought of having to once again watch Bret Michaels fornicate with a bunch of skanky hos and this group looks way worse than the girls of season one. Do I have the strength? Will someone support me in this endeavor?

Other interesting things coming up: Darren Star's Cashmere Mafia. It looks terrible but stars both Lucy Liu and Miranda Otto so I have to give it a chance. Then there's Eli Stone starring Sick Boy Jonny Lee Miller. I used to have a big crush on JLM so I want to see this even though it, too, looks kind of... not so great.

Two days until the Iowa Caucus! I'm ready to return to the real world.

Sort of.

I've been reading lots of vampire fiction lately, too, and I have a friend who wants me to watch Buffy (which I've been meaning to do even though Sarah Michelle Gellar gives me the hives). The Pop Culture Express doesn't look like it's making a stop anytime soon. At least I've managed to avoid P.S. I Love You.

Is this a pole?

  1. Wait a minute. I thought Bret Michaels already found his true love on "Rock of Love I."

  2. I bet you someone at VH-1 is slapping themselves for not getting a camera crew to follow Alx Rose during the making of "Chinese Democracy". That would have been 15 solid years of TV for them right there.

What's the over/under on how many STD's Brett catches this season on RoL? I'd put it at least 2.5.

That said, I'm oddly excited for the new season of Law & Order. Part of the excitement stems form Batman's dad being the new ADA.

  3. You're probably right but I don't think I could watch Axl Rose get bigger and botoxed.

Are there any STD's left for Bret to catch is the question, maybe.

Ahh - I wondered where I'd seen that guy before. I wonder if Jeremy Sisto will be any good. Looking forward to seeing Salty Sam as the DA. At least there's no more Fred Thompson. Blech.
